5A Region I District 6 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Heritage was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Irving. The Panthers came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Trinity extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region I District 6 this week by beating Bell, 27-9. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Cody Thomas put up the best numbers through the air as Heritage defeated the Tigers. He finished with a total of 12 completions for 241 yards and three touchdowns. Thomas' favorite target this week was Kaelin Deboskie, who caught five passes for 69 yards.
Michael Coley was the best wideout in the league this week as Irving lost to Mike Fuller's team. Coley racked up two receptions for 72 yards. Justin Moore helped Irving's passing attack out by catching two balls for nine yards.
Jacobi Perry was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 120 yards as Aaron De La Torre's team lost to the Panthers. Morris Shell III also contributed to the rushing game with 32 yards on the ground.
6-foot-5 quarterback Thomas of Heritage is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2401. He has also thrown 25 touchdowns. On the ground, Turner's Jahaziel Patterson has rushed for 805 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Aaron Dixon. The Bell star has 48 catches for 810 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Raiders take on MacArthur. Bell is in second place, while the Cardinals are in fourth place.
Nimitz moved up to 616 from 656 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings were able to make move up by falling to MacArthur 34-20.
