Paige Conroy was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Madi Bidwell was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Shorecrest Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Neumann waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-4 win.
Sophia Escobar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cecilia Spencer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jolie Barth, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Neumann's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Shorecrest Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Shorecrest Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Neumann struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
