Baseball Recap: Leavenworth Wins Going Away Against Wyandotte

Leavenworth won the last time they faced Wyandotte and things went their way on Wednesday too. The PIONEERS put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 16-1 win. Considering the PIONEERS have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brayden Sheumaker looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.

On the hitting side, Oliver Rambo was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Leavenworth is undefeated when Rambo posts two or more runs, but 6-14 otherwise. Nick Baker was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Leavenworth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Leavenworth and bumps their season record up to 9-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.5 runs over those games. As for Wyandotte, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Leavenworth wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-1 victory against Basehor-Linwood on the 8th. As for Wyandotte, they have also already played their next game, an 11-0 loss against Washington on the 8th.
