Back at the plate, Sophie Vlasak and Brooke Kearns did most of the damage at the plate: Vlasak went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Kearns scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, Kearns posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mercedes Bujanos, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Memorial hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Cypress Ridge fell victim to Cy-Fair and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 14-0 to the Bobcats. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Cypress Ridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ariel Arambula, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Memorial's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Cypress Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season.
Everything went Memorial's way against Cypress Ridge in their previous meeting back in February, as Memorial made off with a 14-2 win. Does Memorial have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cypress Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
