Freedom is a perfect 6-0 against Gainesville since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Freedom is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Freedom and Loudoun County had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles fell just short of the Captains by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Captains recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Jordan Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI. McKenzie Powell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gainesville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Osbourn on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cardinals considering their one-run performance the match before.
Marley Williams was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cameryn Denhup, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Gainesville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Gainesville's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Freedom, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Freedom hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Gainesville struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Freedom skirted past Gainesville 16-14 in their previous matchup back in April. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
