The Madison Trojans were the 48-46 winner over the Mater Dei Knights when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Madison took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mater Dei. While losing is never fun, Madison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 368th, while Mater Dei is ranked 181st).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mater Dei to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elliott Rakers, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Wagner, who scored 17 points.
Madison are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7. As for Mater Dei, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
Madison will be playing at home against Lincolnwood at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Mater Dei, they will head out on the road to square off against Teutopolis at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Teutopolis and Mater Dei are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
