The Evadale Rebels entered their tilt with the Vidor Pirates with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Evadale snuck past Vidor with a 53-49 victory on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Evadale's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 712th, while Vidor is ranked 347th).
When it comes to explaining why Vidor lost, one person who can't be blamed is Raegan Stephenson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Stephenson scored a full 26.5% of Vidor's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Allie Williams, who scored 11 points.
Evadale's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. As for Vidor, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Port Neches-Groves the next time they take the court. Vidor will head out to face Port Neches-Groves at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, while Evadale will head out to face them at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
