Jackson Academy (Jackson, Miss.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 42-14 win over
Magnolia Heights (Senatobia, Miss.).
The Raiders scored seven points in the first quarter. Jackson Academy scored on a touchdown run by
Duncan Maxwell.
JA was up 28-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Maxwell in the first quarter.
The Jackson school expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. The Raiders scored once in the quarter on a
Cooper Reid touchdown run.
Maxwell stood out for Jackson Academy in the win. The junior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 18 touchdowns on the season.
JA went into the matchup giving up only 16.3 points per game. The Chiefs came in surrendering 17.3 points per game this season. Magnolia Heights struggled against the Raiders' offense, which entered the game scoring 33.4 points per game.
A 48-0 Jackson Academy victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
In a MAIS AAA II District 1 game next week Magnolia Heights (6-3) takes on Washington, and Jackson Academy (9-1) will go up against Madison Ridgeland Academy in a MAIS AAA I District 1 game.
