Two dominant guards in Phoenix Romeo and Nasier Berrien are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Hardee Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Meade Miners at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hardee is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Hardee suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were dealt a 82-43 defeat at the hands of Frostproof. While losing is never fun, Hardee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 652nd, while Frostproof is ranked 265th).
Meanwhile, Fort Meade strolled past Mulberry with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 68-52. 68 seems to be a good number for Fort Meade as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Meade to victory, but perhaps none more so than Berrien, who scored 20 points. Berrien hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mekhi Berrien, who scored 18 points.
Hardee's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Fort Meade, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Hardee lost to Fort Meade on the road by a decisive 54-38 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Hardee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
