After flying high against the Tenoroc Titans last Monday, the Lake Wales Highlanders came back down to earth. Lake Wales had to suffer through a rough 76-42 loss at the hands of the Hawks. While losing is never fun, Lake Wales can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 532nd, while the Hawks are ranked 33rd).
Sebastian Perez and Gary Love certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Perez scored nine points, while Love scored eight points.
Leading Santa Fe Catholic to victory were Hudson Dykhuizen and Tate Darner. Dykhuizen scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, while Darner scored 18 points. Toby Lane was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten assists and four steals.
Lake Wales has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Santa Fe Catholic, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Lake Wales will take on the Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Santa Fe Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against the Thunder at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Lake Region focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Monday.
