Football Recap: Hunt's Rushing Attack Does It Again

Hunt hadn't done well against Fike recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Warriors took down the Golden Demons 50-34. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hunt was led to victory by Mez Harris and Doryan Jones. Harris rushed for 116 yards and two scores on only ten carries, while Jones rushed for 164 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Harris is now averaging an impressive 100.4 rushing yards per game.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hunt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 291 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Another reason for the win was Hunt's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for 12 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by CJ Dickerson and Randy James, who racked up eight sacks between them. Dickerson is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Hunt got some further help from Judah Harris: he picked up a sack, forced two fumbles, and made 15 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Fike's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darryl Loatman, who picked up 121 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Loatman showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 65 yards. Braylen Loftin was another key player, picking up 141 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Hunt's record is now 8-2. As for Fike, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Hunt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fike, they are taking a road trip to take on Eastern Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
