South Newton hasn't had much luck against Tri-County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rebels will head out to face off against the Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. South Newton has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
South Newton came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-0 to Delphi Community.
Meanwhile, Tri-County made easy work of North White on Thursday and carried off a 17-1 win.
Luke Arvin was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Tri-County: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 2-4 otherwise. Arvin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Vance Tyler looked comfortable as he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Tri-County is undefeated when Tyler posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-5 otherwise.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Voors, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Alex Bramlett also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Tri-County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.
South Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Tri-County, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Newton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like Tri-County struggles in that department as they've averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Newton came up short against Tri-County in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, falling 3-0. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
