Even though the Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Stallions scored an imposing 62 points on Wednesday, the Elite Academy Eagles still came out on top. Elite Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 64-62 victory over Somerset Academy (Silver Palms). The victory made it back-to-back wins for Elite Academy.
Elite Academy was led to victory by Kyler Theophile and Ladainian Brooks. Theophile scored 20 points, while Brooks scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Brooks has scored at least 25% of Elite Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Morgan, who scored 11 points.
Several Stallions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremiah Touze, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Tony Guerrero was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Elite Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Somerset Academy (Silver Palms), this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Elite Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Wekiva at 2:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Everglades Prep Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 8th.
