Rochester and Peru are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Zebras will venture away from home to face off against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Rochester's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Peru's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Saturday, Rochester got the win against Tippecanoe Valley by a conclusive 10-1. The win continues a trend for the Zebras in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won eight in a row.

Conner Dunfee was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Drew Bowers was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tanner Reinartz, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Rochester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tippecanoe Valley only posted a batting average of .167.
Peru came out on top against Frankfort on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Hot Dogs 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since May 8, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Lucas Musser, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Reis Bellar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Peru's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rochester, their record now sits at 15-2.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rochester hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Peru struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
