The Santa Barbara Dons will head out on the road to face off against the St. Paul Swordsmen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Santa Barbara is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Santa Barbara never let their opponents score. They breezed by Buena at home to the tune of 43-0. The result was nothing new for Santa Barbara, who have now won five matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Koa Herrera, who rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Kai Mault did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Santa Barbara's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Michael Cabral and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, even though St. Francis scored an imposing 32 points on Friday, St. Paul still came out on top. St. Paul managed a 37-32 victory over St. Francis.
St. Paul found their leader in underclassman Gabriel Castaneda, who threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Calderon, who picked up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Santa Barbara to 8-2 and St. Paul to 5-5.
