Alief Taylor has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Pearland Oilers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pearland took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Alief Taylor, who comes in off a win.
Even though Alief Taylor has not done well against the Fighting Crusaders recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Alief Taylor strolled past the Fighting Crusaders with points to spare, taking the game 55-38.
Alief Taylor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathan Kongolo out in front who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kongolo has scored at least a third of Alief Taylor's points. Another player making a difference was Nefi Taiwo, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pearland was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 44-40 to the Eagles. Pearland has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their match on Saturday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Alief Taylor has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Pearland, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-13.
Alief Taylor skirted past the Oilers 51-49 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alief Taylor since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
