The Riverside Rangers will head out on the road to face off against the Bowie Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverside will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Two weeks ago, Riverside earned a 29-20 win over Austin.
Riverside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derek Vasquez led the charge by throwing for 165 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Riverside also got a significant boost from Noah Ramirez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 108 yards.
Meanwhile, Bowie unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Austin 14-9. Having soared to a lofty 49 points in the game before, Bowie couldn't push the score so high this time.
With Riverside's win and Bowie's defeat, both teams now sport identical 7-2 records.
Everything came up roses for Riverside against Bowie when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 63-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverside since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
