The Jackson Ironman/Ironladies had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They skirted past Logan 45-43. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Logan is ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from T.j. Carpenter, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Carpenter has scored at least a third of Jackson's points. Another player making a difference was Mattie Walburn, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Logan had strong showings from Makenzie Daubenmire, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three blocks, and Josie Sigler, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Hinton 2027, who scored two points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Logan were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson only racked up two assists.
Jackson's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2. As for Logan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Jackson will head out on the road to challenge Chillicothe at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Jackson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season. As for Logan, they will be playing at home against Newark at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Logan is facing Newark at the right time seeing as Newark is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
