Godwin has gone a perfect 8-0 against Maggie Walker recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will welcome Maggie Walker at 6:00 p.m. Godwin is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Godwin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against James River Midlothian on Monday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Lila Palmer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Adelynn Collins and Carter Dunham did most of the damage at the plate: Collins went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Dunham went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Collins has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie White, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Godwin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James River Midlothian only posted an OBP of .185.
James Monroe hit Maggie Walker with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. Maggie Walker fell 9-5 to James Monroe. Maggie Walker has struggled against James Monroe recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Ashley Simmons and Hadley Walder stepped up to the plate in a big way. Simmons went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Walder went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Mansfield, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Godwin pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Maggie Walker, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Maggie Walker's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Godwin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Maggie Walker, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Godwin keep running through batters, or will Maggie Walker buck the trend?
Everything went Godwin's way against Maggie Walker in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Godwin made off with a 22-6 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do Maggie Walker have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
