Jac-Cen-Del has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the South Ripley Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jac-Cen-Del has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 338 points over their last five games.
Last Thursday, Jac-Cen-Del strolled past Rising Sun with points to spare, taking the game 58-39. Given Jac-Cen-Del's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Rising Sun is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jac-Cen-Del's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julia Meyer, who scored 15 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Sullivan, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
South Ripley suffered their closest loss yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Southwestern by a score of 50-48. South Ripley found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up seven fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite their loss, South Ripley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Reese Obendorf, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Claire Samples was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Jac-Cen-Del is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for South Ripley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Jac-Cen-Del hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 53.7 points per game. It's a different story for South Ripley, though, as they've been averaging only 44.6 points per game. The only thing between Jac-Cen-Del and another offensive beatdown is South Ripley. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Jac-Cen-Del strolled past South Ripley when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a score of 41-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jac-Cen-Del since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
