Softball Recap: Workman Takes a Loss

Workman dropped down to 8-7 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Edgewood Lions by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-4 back in March.

As for Edgewood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games.

For Edgewood's part, they got a great performance from A Hurtado as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 6.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, P Lucero was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was X Gomez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Workman will face off against rival Ganesha at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Edgewood is set to challenge their familiar foe Bassett at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
