The Bagdad Sultans are taking a road trip to take on the Kingman Academy Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kingman Academy will be up against a hot Bagdad squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Sultans' way against Salome on Friday as they made off with a 21-1 win.

Tatum Jeans was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jaylyn Rodriguez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Cailyn Blanton was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Bagdad kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Kingman Academy owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They blew past Glendale Prep Academy 6-0.
Like Bagdad, Kingman Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Emily Mathys. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Mathys was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Brady Sanders and Taylee Mote did most of the damage at the plate: Sanders went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Mote scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That triple was Sanders' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gabby Zubia, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base.
Kingman Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Bagdad, their record is now 11-3.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bagdad has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .637. However, it's not like Kingman Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .534. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bagdad took their win against Kingman Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sultans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
