The Woden Eagles will head out on the road to take on the San Augustine Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Woden waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Broaddus with a 41-36 victory.
San Augustine posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 66-17 victory over Colmesneil at home. Given San Augustine's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 710th, while Colmesneil is ranked 1696th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Augustine's success was spearheaded by the efforts of D'Adrian Renfro, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Joshua Roland, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarion "Lil Man" Teagle, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Woden's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12. As for San Augustine, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Woden was able to grind out a solid win over San Augustine in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 46-38. Will Woden repeat their success, or does San Augustine have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
