Chaparral (7-4) is 12 games into its season, but it hasn't met anyone harder than the team challenging it next. Both it and Centennial (10-1) have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:00 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Chaparral is currently on a four-game winning streak and looking to extend its dominance.
Chaparral's encounter with Arcadia two weeks ago was a 59-point stomp, but the result last week was anything but. Chaparral came out on top in a nail-biter against Williams Field last week, sneaking past 17 - 14. Chaparral brought some defensive heat, getting to the quarterback for six sacks.
Meanwhile, Centennial has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling seven) after its most recent game. It took its game against Sunnyslope last week by a confident 28 - 2 score. With three TDs, senior Zidane Thomas was a significant factor in the success. This also marked the 3rd consecutive game in which Thomas rushed for 100+ yards.
The last time they met, Centennial was the clear winner with a 41 - 14 finish. Can it repeat its success? We'll find out this Friday.
