The Cimarron-Memorial Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Del Sol 69-33 at home. Given Cimarron-Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Del Sol is ranked 79th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cimarron-Memorial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gerald Patterson, who scored 20 points along with five steals. Geremiah Rone was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Cimarron-Memorial's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Del Sol, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cimarron-Memorial won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Somerset Academy Losee at 6:30 p.m. on January 11th. Somerset Academy Losee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Cimarron-Memorial likes a good challenge. As for Del Sol, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Southeast Career Tech at 6:30 p.m. Southeast Career Tech comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
