The Sharkey Issaquena Academy Confederates extended their postseason success on Thursday against the Calhoun Academy Cougars. They snuck past the Cougars with a 32-26 victory. The victory was familiar territory for Sharkey Issaquena Academy who now have five in a row.
It was another big night for Gary Jackson jr., who rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 53 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Jackson jr.'s longest rush was for an incredible 97 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Corderrius Jackson, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Calhoun Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Easton Dishman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 247 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Layton Logan was another key contributor, rushing for 127 yards on only 11 carries.
Sharkey Issaquena Academy's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Calhoun Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2.
Sharkey Issaquena Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Calhoun Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
