The Salem Tigers will challenge the Potosi Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Potosi will be up against a hot Salem squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went Salem's way against Stoutland on Monday as they made off with a 13-6 victory. That's two games straight that Salem has won by exactly seven runs.
Maddie Mercer and Alaina Norris made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Mercer struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Norris pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Mercer got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Norris got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Norris has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Josie Bowers was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Bowers is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Alexis White was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, while Potosi put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Kingston. The Trojans put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 20-0 win. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Like Salem, Potosi also got a great game from a two-way player: Shannon Riddle. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Riddle was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Sabra Brown and Paige Robart did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Robart got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two RBI. That triple was Brown's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Eve Litton, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Potosi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Salem's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Potosi, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Potosi's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Salem has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Potosi, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Salem keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
Salem got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Potosi by a conclusive 17-11 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
