IV Section II recap Oct. 3, 2012
Empire was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in IV Section II. Earlier in the week, the Ravens triumphed over Bisbee 20-6.
Seton Catholic took down Combs 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. David Gesicki threw for 201 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 36 yards in the win.
Greg Johnson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 337 yards on 29 carries as Coronado beat the Coyotes. Teammate Daniel Triplett added to the ground attack by rushing for 90 yards.
Haggerty was the best wideout in the league this week as Seton Catholic defeated Combs. Haggerty racked up five receptions for 78 yards. Kaleb Krick helped Seton Catholic's passing attack out by catching two balls for 48 yards.
Daniel Garlid made the biggest impact on defense this week as Rex Bowser's team bested Marques Reischl's team. The 6-foot-3 senior grabbed one interception.
The Sentinels' Gesicki and Haggerty have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading IV Section II in both passing and receiving yards. Gesicki has thrown for 798 yards this season, while Haggerty, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 28 catches for 488 yards. Florence's Nick Brown leads the league in rushing yards with 616.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Coyotes take on Coolidge. At the moment, Combs is in 10th, while the Bears are in third.
