Doddridge County has gone 9-1 against South Harrison recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 5:30 p.m. Doddridge County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Doddridge County fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against St. Marys on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 3-2. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Tessa Mayle spent all 8.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Doddridge County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamryn Satterfield, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, South Harrison was able to grind out a solid win over Calhoun last Saturday, taking the game 15-12.
Tori Nicholson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nicholson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, South Harrison got a massive performance out of Riley Myers, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Alexas Talbott was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
South Harrison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Having lost for the first time this season, Doddridge County fell to 10-1. As for South Harrison, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
South Harrison's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Doddridge County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for South Harrison, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Doddridge County's sizable advantage in that area, the Hawks will need to find a way to close that gap.
Doddridge County took their win against South Harrison when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 19-1 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
