If the Ray Bearcats were riding high off their 60-31 takedown of the Bagdad Sultans last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ray was the victim of a tough 70-49 defeat at the hands of Desert Christian on Wednesday. Ray was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-18.
Ray's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Morales, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Mark Chester, who scored 14 points.
Tyson Dobbins was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with eight rebounds and five steals for Desert Christian. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Valvala, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and four steals.
Ray's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Desert Christian, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ray will face off against Duncan at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Desert Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Benson at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Benson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Desert Christian is ranked 114th).
