Softball Recap: Payette Extends Winning Streak to Three

Payette hadn't done well against Weiser recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Pirates walked away with an 11-6 win over the Wolverines. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Anna Moreno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Payette got a massive performance out of Haylo Collingwood, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave Collingwood a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Walker, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Payette kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.

Payette's record now sits at 7-11. As for Weiser, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.

Weiser didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Nampa Christian on the 29th. Hopefully Payette paid attention to the Wolverines' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
