Softball Recap: Oxford Comes Up Short

Oxford lost against Pontotoc on March 3rd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Oxford fell 10-6 to Pontotoc.

Oxford saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paisley Walls, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Walls a new career-high. Maier Jernigan also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Oxford's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Pontotoc, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxford will head out to face off against Horn Lake at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oxford is facing Horn Lake at the right time seeing as Horn Lake is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Pontotoc, they will venture away from home to square off against West Point at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
