Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Jurupa Hills' Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Jurupa Hills won the last time they faced Carter and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 14-2 victory. Considering the Spartans have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Aaden Lopez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Lopez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Jurupa Hills let Alejandro Preciado and Ivan Farner run wild. Preciado went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Farner went a perfect 1-for-1 with ten stolen bases and one RBI. Those ten stolen bases gave Farner a new career-high. Eduardo Gomez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Jurupa Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

Jurupa Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Jurupa Hills is set to face off against their familiar foe Colton at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 2.5, the Yellowjackets 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Carter will square off against rival San Gorgonio at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
