Newfound Regional is 10-0 against the Lakers since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Newfound Regional Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Inter-Lakes Lakers at 6:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 16 consecutive losses for Newfound Regional and 19 for the Lakers dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Newfound Regional came up short against the Spartans and fell 30-21. Newfound Regional has not had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Inter-Lakes ended up a good deal behind the Red Raiders on Monday and lost 46-31.
Despite the loss, Inter-Lakes had strong showings from Hayley Doda, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two blocks, and Olivia Kimball, who scored nine points.
Newfound Regional's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-16. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.0 points per game. As for Inter-Lakes, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.
Newfound Regional strolled past the Lakers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 47-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newfound Regional since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
