The Cummings Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Southeast Alamance Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cummings has struggled recently with 11 defeats in a row, while Southeast Alamance will arrive with three straight wins.
Cummings suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Northwood on the road and fell 48-9. While losing is never fun, Cummings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while Northwood is ranked 72nd).
In what's become a running theme this season, Southeast Alamance gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by Graham at home to the tune of 59-17. The squad ran away with 48 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Southeast Alamance found their leader in underclassman Shaniya Paylor, who scored 14 points along with five steals. Paylor continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Clara LaChapelle was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Cummings' loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.3 points per game. As for Southeast Alamance, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
