Ponca City is 0-7 against Choctaw since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Ponca City Wildcats are on the road again and plays the Choctaw Yellowjackets at 8:00 a.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Ponca City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday.
Ponca City was handed a 25-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Bartlesville on Monday. Ponca City skirted past Bartlesville 46-44. The victory was just what Ponca City needed coming off of a 72-47 loss in their prior game.
Ponca City's success was spearheaded by the efforts of AJ Landes, who scored ten points along with five assists, and Tay Moore, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Choctaw didn't have too much trouble with Bixby at home on Friday as they won 66-52. The win made it back-to-back wins for Choctaw.
Ponca City's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-16. As for Choctaw, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.
Ponca City came up short against Choctaw in their previous meeting back in January, falling 62-51. Can Ponca City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
