The Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Ness City 86-52. Wheatland-Grinnell has not had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Wheatland-Grinnell lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Broady Goetz, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Goetz has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Mason, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
It was another big night for William Childers, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds for Ness City. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Durham, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Wheatland-Grinnell dropped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Ness City, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheatland-Grinnell will face off against the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 69.42 points so far this season, Northern Valley's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Thunderhawks better be ready for a challenge. As for Ness City, they will head out on the road to square off against the Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. LaCrosse is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
