It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Hutto Hippos can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Duncanville on Friday, falling 63-7. Hutto was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-0.
Will Hammond threw for 209 yards and a touchdown. Alex Green was his top target, picking up 80 receiving yards.
Leading Duncanville to victory were Caden Durham and Keelon Russell. Durham gained 158 total yards, while Russell threw for 184 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Durham was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.
Another reason for the win was Duncanville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 6.5 sacks. Leading the way was Colin Simmons and his two sacks.
This is the second loss in a row for Hutto and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for Duncanville, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
Hutto does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Duncanville will square off against Rockwall-Heath at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rockwall-Heath is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
