Make it seven blowout wins for the Morrill Lions this season. They claimed a resounding 62-28 victory over Mitchell at home. With Morrill ahead 43-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Kinzley Hess was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine steals. She also posted eight assists for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklin Hess, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals.
Despite the defeat, Mitchell saw an underclassman step up: Kate Pieper scored 17 points along with two steals. That was a full 60.7% of Mitchell's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Morrill's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Mitchell, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.
Morrill won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Bridgeport will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. Mitchell is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Longhorns at 11:00 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Kimball is ranked 222nd, while the Tigers are ranked 225th).
