Colonial Forge has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Freedom Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Colonial Forge rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past Gainesville 49-26. Given Colonial Forge's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Gainesville is ranked 73rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Freedom put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Potomac Senior, posting a 75-7 victory at home.
Jeffrey Overton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 280 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 15.6 yards per carry. Overton is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Tristan Evans-Trujillo was another key contributor, throwing for 253 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Colonial Forge's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Freedom, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Colonial Forge couldn't quite finish off Freedom in their previous meeting back in September of 2019 and fell 30-27. Can Colonial Forge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
