Celeste and Wolfe City are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Celeste Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolfe City Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Celeste's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Callisburg 21-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.
Madilen Fronterhouse made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Mya Mainord was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Emily Morel was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
Celeste hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in nine consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wolfe City had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Avery with a sharp 10-1 win on Saturday.
Evie Sample looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydnee Tomiello, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Andrea Medina, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Celeste now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Wolfe City, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Celeste hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .388. However, it's not like Wolfe City struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Celeste couldn't quite finish off Wolfe City in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can Celeste avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
