The Avalon Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 48-7 victory over Penelope at home. That 48-7 margin sets a new team best for Avalon this season.
Avalon found their leader in underclassman Brooklyn De La Garza, who scored 25 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which De La Garza has scored at least 25% of Avalon's points. Haley Zaidle was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
The victory (which was Avalon's third in a row) raised their record to 11-5. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.33 points. As for Penelope, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-9.
Avalon's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Coolidge at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Coolidge has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 10. Penelope will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Milford at 6:45 p.m. on January 19th.
