Softball Recap: Gahr Gets the Win

Gahr came out on top against Cypress on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Gladiators walked away with an 8-5 win over the Centurions. The Gladiators haven't had any issues with the Centurions recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Bella Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mylah Burrowes was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Skyy Saucedo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Gahr hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Gahr's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Cypress, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Gahr will square off against La Habra at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Highlanders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Gladiators' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cypress, they will challenge Mira Costa at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
