The Springstead Eagles will square off against the Nature Coast Tech Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Springstead took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Weeki Wachee, sneaking past 7-5.
The team relied heavily on Jacob Giannie, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Caleb Brandenburg was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Nature Coast Tech won against Cypress Creek on Thursday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Sharks beat Crystal River by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. The win was just business as usual for the Sharks, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
BRYCE HEWELL and NOAH SANCHEZ made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, HEWELL pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, SANCHEZ struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. At bat, HEWELL went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while SANCHEZ went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, JACKSON PATTERSON was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was GARRICK WAGGONER, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Nature Coast Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2025.
Nature Coast Tech's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Springstead, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Springstead couldn't quite finish off Nature Coast Tech when the teams last played back in February of 2025 and fell 7-5. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
