The Geneva Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They really took it to Opp for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-10 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Geneva, who have now won six matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Geneva's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cheyenne Hammock led the charge by scoring 14 points along with four steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Bella Johnson, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Opp struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The victory (which was Geneva's eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Opp, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Geneva will be home for the holidays to greet Graceville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Graceville is ranked 79th in Florida, while Geneva is ranked 59th in Alabama). As for Opp, they will head out on the road to face off against Elba at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elba's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so Opp's offense will have their work cut out for Opp.
