The Fike Demons will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Southern Wayne Saints at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fike had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past East Wake 26-6. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Fike just coasted through the last quarter.
Fike's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaiden Jones, who rushed for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Zy Hines was another key contributor, rushing for 118 yards on only 15 carries.
Meanwhile, Southern Wayne's game on Thursday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They managed a 20-14 victory over Smithfield-Selma. The win was just what Southern Wayne needed coming off of a 34-12 loss in their prior matchup.
Fike's win on Thursday bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Southern Wayne, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.
