Basketball Recap: Jefferson Davis Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Holly Hill Academy came into Monday's game looking for another win against Jefferson Davis Academy, but Colson Loadholt wouldn't allow it. The Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders wrapped up 2024 with a 57-43 win over the Holly Hill Academy Raiders thanks in part to Loadholt, who went 10 of 23 on his way to 27 points and three steals. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

The team also got some help courtesy of Nasir Void, who posted eight points along with 19 rebounds and three steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 14 times he's played.

Despite the loss, Holly Hill Academy still got an impressive performance from Jody Gillam, who put up 22 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 51.2% of Holly Hill Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Soles, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Jefferson Davis Academy moved to 6-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Holly Hill Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Jefferson Davis Academy will head out to face off against Colleton Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Holly Hill Academy, they will host Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.
