There's no place like home for the Brandeis Broncos, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They claimed a resounding 59-28 victory over Madison at home. Given Brandeis' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Madison is ranked 587th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Brandeis to victory were Abigail Burdette and Rian Forestier. Burdette scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and six assists, while Forestier scored 25 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Forestier has scored at least a third of Brandeis' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Pierson, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Brandeis' win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.1 points per game. As for Madison, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-19 record this season.
Brandeis will head out on the road to take on Johnson at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Johnson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Madison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
