The McMinnville Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Liberty Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: McMinnville has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Liberty will arrive with three straight victories.
McMinnville pushed their score all the way to 35 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 55-35 defeat at the hands of Glencoe.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kane Sullivan, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Sullivan was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Church, who rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, Liberty humbled Century with a 40-8 victory. The result was nothing new for Liberty, who have now won three games by 21 points or more so far this season.
McMinnville's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-1 Lake Oswego and 4-3 Newberg (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.1% over those games). As for Liberty, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 5-2.
McMinnville came up short against Liberty when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 31-21. Will McMinnville have more luck at home instead of on the road?
