Even though the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, the Pinnacle Pioneers still came out on top. Pinnacle enjoyed a cozy 83-64 win over Mountain Ridge. Given Pinnacle's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Mountain Ridge is ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinnacle got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Braylon Johnson out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 17 rebounds. Johnson hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Domonic Okeke, who scored 11 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Mountain Ridge still got an impressive performance from Jaiden Thompson, who scored 24 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Saeva, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Pinnacle and bumps their season record up to 12-9. As for Mountain Ridge, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Liberty the next time they take the court. Pinnacle will host Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Mountain Ridge will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
